Jyoti’s story
Dance and fitness were part of Jyoti’s life from childhood. She studied computer applications (MCA) and worked as a web developer before marriage and motherhood changed everything.
After a painful period that included depression, and the birth of her daughter in 2017, her weight had gone from 50 to 75 kg. On 4 June 2018 she decided: “That’s it. I want my life back.” Working out at home and eating home food, she went from 75 kg to 52 kg, and she has kept the weight off since.
Neighbours noticed. Jyoti started training a few women from her housing society, and found that popular workouts weren’t designed for Indian women’s bodies and days. Over a year of classes she shaped her own method: FunDa, Fun + Dance.
In 2020, lockdown moved FunDa online: one laptop, one Zoom call, a few women in a living room. Her husband, Ujjwal Abhishek, left his job to build the business with her as co-founder. Today FunDa has more than 15,000 paid clients across India, and the mission is to transform the lives of one million women, especially mothers.
